OCC Component 1 – Unrestricted Licensure

A candidate must hold an unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state or territory of the United States. An applicant that has a restricted license may petition the Board for the ability to enter the OCC process based upon review of the reason for licensure restriction. The status of a diplomate’s licensure will be verified throughout the cycle by requesting a copy of the medical license with completion of each OCC module located on the AOBNMM website.

Each diplomate will be required to have an active, non-suspended or revoked medical license in at least one state. If the diplomate does not have an active, non-suspended or non-revoked license, the AOBNMM must be notified and the diplomate will be required to appeal to the AOA-BOS to determine the candidate’s ability to continue in OCC.
